Tips and tricks on how to maximize your online impact
While it’s all well and good to go in-depth on how to use technology to benefit your business, many times it’s beneficial to have a few small actionable goals to get you heading in the right direction. For this blog, I’ll lay out a number of these small goals that you can try incorporating into your business with some quick wins you can recognize for each.
Tip 1: The first, and possibly most broadly applicable, tip is to use free social media tools. This may mean posting regularly on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn. A quick win for these platforms is using built-in tools like Instagram Reels or Facebook Stories to boost engagement with your audience.
Tip 2: Claim and Optimize Google My Business (GMB). This may or may not apply depending on the type of business. For businesses with a physical location, it can be very beneficial to set up a free GMB profile. Of course, it is important to ensure this profile has accurate information for your business such as address, hours, contract information, etc. A quick win in this case would be to add photos and ask customers for reviews which will help your business appear higher in local searches.
Tip 3: Refresh Your Website. This is said often, but that’s because it is just that important. Arduous as it may feel it is important to check your website for broken links or outdated content. A quick win you can take here is to add a clear Call to Action (Contact Us or “Shop Now) on the homepage.
Tip 4: For businesses with a physical location, leveraging local hashtags on social media posts or other content can be very beneficial. These hashtags can be anything relevant to your area and industry (#ShopLocal #YourCityName). Business owners can find a quick win by tagging their location in posts to attract local customers.
Tip 5: The fifth tip here is to use online reviews. By asking satisfied customers to leave reviews on Google, Yelp, or Facebook your business can increase credibility with your audience and even see growth in engagement. Sharing exceptional reviews on your website or social media is a quick win for your business.
Tip 6: Partner with other small businesses for a giveaway or cross-promotion. This can provide a quick win for both entities by providing increased exposure through sharing each other’s audiences.
Tip 7: Use free tools as much as possible. Try tools such as Canva for designing graphics, Buffer for scheduling posts, HubSpot for customer relationship management (CRM), or Grammarly for free AI writing assistance. Business owners can find quick wins here by creating polished social media content in minutes without hiring a designer.
Tip 8: This is the final tip of this blog and, in my opinion, is the most important one. This tip is to analyze and adjust your content. Use free analytics tools like Google Analytics or social media insights to see what’s working. You can find a quick win for your business by doubling down on posts or campaigns that get the most engagement from your audience.
While these tips may seem simple and not worth your time, I’d like to remind you that small, consistent actions can create a big impact over time. I encourage you to explore more options and find what works best for your business while keeping these tips in mind. As always, I wish for you and your business success and look forward to seeing you all in the next blog.
